The "winter blooming" iris is native to North Africa, Greece and Turkey. Flower stems are absent; it blooms on long perianth tubes. They grow to about 10". The Iris Gallery's bloom period is from October to March. Although they are native to a drier climate, they grow and perform well in all parts of the country if protected from hard freezes. Recommended zones are 5-24. Because they are difficult to establish from bareroot, we only ship in containers. They are very popular in England but not readily available in this country.
