The irises in the Californicae group are made of up of 11 species and innumerable hybrids between them. As The Iris Gallery is on the coast, they grow in full sun in open fields or near the edge of the woods. Mostly they are small (6-18″) with one or two flowers per stem in a wide range of colors. In mild climates, they tend to be evergreen. Their flowering season is from early to late spring.
